Wednesday 6/29/11 - Team Swamp Dog

FIRST POST OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!! though it should have been yesterday :P (shout out to Lauren aka Hurricaney for reminding me)

So....what happened on Wednesday....? Firstly, team swamp dog met our newest member: Jane Compton! She is AWESOME. She fit in with us right away even though we are this misfit crew of nerds, tree-huggers, GaGa fanatics, newbies, weirdos (cough cough Lauren), MIA music-men (Zach), MIA gingers (Brittney), and total bad-asses (Arielle). We could totally be the breakfast club but sooo much cooler, not only because we mountainscape instead of running around a high school, but mostly because we're not living in the 80's.

Moving on, we had our normal stretching circle in the parking lot, but today we pondered a pretty big life question: if you could be any food item which would you be? I know, mind shattering, but team swamp dog tackles huge stuff like this all the time. We're that impressive.

Back to Jane though, she has this killer/slightly freaky rock instinct. She just kept saying she had this feeling of "no faith" with different rocks and she called our bad fits every time. We tried to set 3 different stones in this one hole and every time we had to end up taking the rock out and go rock shopping again to find a bigger rock. Until, that is, Lauren found Big Momma. (insert inapropro statement about how much I hate Big Momma). We spent an entire day digging Big Momma out, trying to convince Lauren not to use her, flipping her UP the hill to the trail, trying to get Lauren to stop laughing at our pain, failing, getting Arielle to get Lauren to stop laughing, trying to get Lauren to relearn geometry, failing, figuring out which way to flip the rock in the hole on our own, tediously measuring the rock and hole, then FINALLY flipping the rock into the hole in the last ten minutes of work, and FAILING! The rock did not follow our carefully laid out plans, caused our creation of the phrase "trail-fail", and almost made Jane cry. jk on the last part.

And that why my entire day :) Oh, and the other mud puppies set seven stone. Go team!

Sorry for making this so long people who read this, aka Jon, hope you got a good impression of the day.
